Education is regarded as a primary instrument for individual development and national development and progress could only be attained if the citizens are themselves educated, trained and skilled to cope with national progress. Access to education is now recognized universally as a fundamental right. Everyone has the right to education.
Education remains one of the major thrusts of the local government. Evidently, projects for the last five years focused on construction of new school buildings, repair, acquisition of computers and access to free education.
Peace and Order/Public Safety
Public safety and civil defense in the municipality are ensured by the Integrated Police with the support of barangay tanods. With the municipality’s enviable near zero crime rate situation, the PNP with its workforce of 10 police officers and the barangay tanods do not have a problem maintaining peace and order.
Still there are areas that really need police visibility such as the coastal areas to prevent illegal fishing, protect sanctuary from intrusion of fishermen and enforce fishing laws.
Since the area is often visited by typhoons, the local government has organized the Municipal and Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils. Disaster councils provide the vehicles for concerted efforts, direction and control over all emergency operations as well as disaster preparedness and mitigation activities.
